A FEW THINGS ABOUT THE ARTIST

1. What do you do when you’re not making art? (Day job etc...).

Catlin makes it his mission to gather people to experience cool sh!t together. Most recently that means he serves as the Executive Director of ArtPrize.

2. Why do you make art?

The act of creating is cathartic and allows me to express something that I cannot with other modes of communication or analysis. I also make art for me, Art that I find pleasing and fulfilling and I want to look at for years without tiring of it.

3. What inspires you?

A vibrant urban environment. The certainty of nature.

4. What/who are your influences?

Golden era hip-hop culture.

5. If you could meet anyone dead or alive who would it be?

Lyndon Baines Johnson - the man was many things...
