“Crimson Red Sunflower”
“Pamela’s first journey to New Orleans this year was a sensory awakening. She found herself submerged in a city that doesn’t just show its colors-it wears them like an inheritance. Pamela was moved by the rhythmic friction of the streets: the deep purples of a twilight sky over the Mississippi, and the weathered PATENIA OF THE French Quarters. By reimagining this sunflower in the hues of the city, she replaced the sunny yellow with a crimson of New Orleans atmosphere. These colors that she used awaken the colors that she felt during my visit. This painting bridges the crimson of the flower to the brick and soul of New Orleans.”
