In addition to being a highly accomplished painter, Joel Terkeurst is a full time long haul trucker and audiobook narrator. His lifelong fascination with the landscape, void of human intervention - or shown as minor in comparison to the powerful forces of nature - is a primary subject in his of work, but not exclusively.

Historical inspirations such as the English painter John Constable can be felt in his work, but most of all, one can sense his awe of nature and love of paint.

Most events answer the question: What are we doing?

The Do Nothing Party answers: Nothing.

For one evening, the AllArtWorks Viewing Studio will become a temporary community dedicated to doing absolutely nothing.

Bring a chair.

That’s it. There will be no program. No speakers. No performances. No workshops. No artist talk. No networking session. No ice breakers.

Sit. Stand. Talk. Listen. Look at art while contemplating nothing. Drink.

Or simply exist.

Guests are encouraged to bring their own chair—whether it’s a lawn chair, folding chair, office chair, recliner, bean bag, or something entirely unexpected. Together, the chairs become part of the evening and transform the gallery into a living installation.

The event is BYOB. Upon arrival, your beverages will be checked in with our Nothing Tender and returned to you throughout the evening upon request. After all, worrying about keeping your beer cold would be doing something.

6:00 PM — Nothing begins.

7:00 PM — Continued nothing.

8:00 PM — Nothing concludes.

Throughout the evening, guests may also participate in the Silent Auction of Nothing, featuring donated items that help raise additional support for the AllArtWorks Foundation. The highest bidder will receive nothing—along with the satisfaction of supporting free community arts programming.

The Do Nothing Party is a fundraiser benefiting the AllArtWorks Foundation. Proceeds help keep our doors open and support free exhibitions, workshops, youth programs, artist opportunities, and community arts experiences throughout the year.

Don’t attend because there is something to do.

It’s a Paint and Sip with a comedic twist!! Featuring a brand new artist every month and a whole lot of fun and outrages surprises!!

Laugh, Sip, Paint is a monthly Paint and Sip at AllArtworks Viewing Studio that features a brand new local artist to learn from each show with one small twist. Professional comedian Mike Logan will be doing his best during the lesson to screw things up with wild curveballs, hilarious distractions and great prizes to giveaway!!

So come ready to paint and laugh while relaxing with a drink and an amazing artist excited to teach you!
