Welcome to AllArtWorks Featured Artist Series!
1. What other profession is similar to being an artist and why?
Interior decorating / architect is similar because they are creating to please the public, the result must meet with several approvals; colors and materials must "sync."
2. What’s the nicest thing you can remember someone said about your work, or an individual piece?
We had a large art / amusement weekend at a local park here, I was interviewed and my drawing / color skills were complimented. I would draw to help pass the time and spark interest in my work...
3. What’s one thing you’d like everyone to know about you as an artist?
I sincerely try to create a pleasing work of art and follow rules such as golden mean, perspective and use top rate materials...
4. What was the last piece of art that you saw that blew you away?
Was looking at Grant Wood today, the portrait of a farmer and daughter; him holding a pitchfork, very somber. Wasn't aware he was from Iowa; also wasn't aware his work was at the Art Institute of Chicago.
5. What’s something you haven’t done but you want to do in art/painting?
Would like to work larger and more abstract but at present am working smaller (20" x 16").
That's kind of like comparing Michelangelo and Rembrandt and asking which do you like best; they both have their strong points but I am more familiar with Delacroix.
*The reason we ask about Delacroix and Ingres is because they were contemporaries with wildly different styles!
