A FEW THINGS ABOUT THE ARTIST
1. What do you do when you’re not making art? (Day job etc...).
I am retired, but a political activist. I've been arrested many times. I believe it's my obligation as a citizen to speak out.
2. Why do you make art?
I make art because it gives me an outlet for my beliefs. The Gun Show and Historic Erotica, two collections on facebook of over 100 paintings each are my soap box for make love not war.
3. What inspires you?
I am inspired by the beauty of erotica, the importance of the gun show. I also do many portraits of my children and grandchildren and yes, great grandchildren.
4. What/who are your influences?
I have been influenced by The Wanderers, a group of wonderful artists from Russia. I was trained somewhat by two artists of this discipline, Gerald Murai and Ovanes Berbarian. Both had studied with Sergei Bongart. I have also been influenced by Gabriel Van Max, an artist who never shied away from issues he felt passionate about.
5. If you could meet anyone dead or alive who would it be?
There are so very many people I have missed. I guess at the moment I would love to speak to Howard Zinn, author of “A people's History of the US.”
